Miaoli County creates a new integrated land, sea and air recreation area tourist attraction at Mingde Reservoir

Mingde Reservoir in Miaoli County is famous for being where scenes from the renowned movie "The Dull-Ice Flower" were filmed. Today, the county government plans to integrate land, sea and air related recreational facilities such as cycling around the reservoir, boating, SUP stand-up paddling, and lake air bikes, to create a brand new tourist attraction.
In recent years, efforts have been made to revitalize scenic spots as the area is seeks to promote green, healthy leisure and seniors-based tourism. This involves creating the new brand "Water front at Ming Lake" with a focus on "one lake, two islands, three rings, four creations and five themes." Three major theme scenic spots are planned around the Mingde Reservoir Pier Area, Rixin Island, Haitang Island and Yuanyang Island. In the future, these will be combined with a bikeway around the reservoir to create a diversified recreational location that will become a brand new popular tourist spot in Miaoli.
