* Art and Cultural Events for 2011 Miaoli International Art Festival: Music Quakes the Mountain City
Update:2011-12-15
Miaoli County Government has been proactively hosting all kinds of international performances and exhibitions in recent years, which has successfully shaped Miaoli with the image of a culturally rich city, thereby greatly improving its tourism. The latter half of 2011 is no exception. It was a great honor to invite the “Dynamic Yunnan,” “Ming Hwa Yuan Arts & Cultural Group,” and “Rom Shing Hakka Opera Troupe” last year. This year, Miaoli County Magistrate Liu Cheng-hung, who assumed the title of cultural magician, along with Mark Chang (Chang Hsin-chieh), who is a finalist of the TV show, One Million Stars, as well as being of Atayal origin, “magically” presented a series of international performances for the citizens. Starting early in October, the entire county was enveloped in the atmosphere of the international art festival. The Real Group, a world-renowned A Cappella group, provided the first stunning performance of the festival, followed by the opera “Emperor Kangxi and the Sun King Louis XIV” in association with the National Palace Museum. In November, the “Music Quakes the Mountain City” series featured Paul Potts, a world-famous tenor from Britain’s Got Talent; the “Disney on Classics” concert that has been loved by people of all ages; and “Bond,” a string quartet that has charmed Europe and the US.
